This week I used the bcc function and suddenly realized that it was the first time this year!
Personally, I think that this function is mostly for gutless cut-throats who like to hide in the shadows.
So do I never send an email to one person and then some more without letting the first person know? Well, sometimes… But of course it’s different if you work in HR. You wouldn’t understand if you don’t 😉
Okay, seriously. If I’m in such a situation I usually forward the message to the additional people and add a comment or an explanation. It’s still a bit hypocritical, but I don’t feel half as bad about it…
And in case you wanted to know why I was using the bcc: I was reminding several of my coworkers that they still needed to send me some information. And since I neither wanted to embarrass them nor wanted to send 10 individual emails, I gave in and used the dreaded bcc.
So now I’m wondering, is anybody still using this sneaky bastardy function these days? Let me know in the comments!
Confession:
I wrote this whole post sitting on the train and using my beloved Hero with the WordPress app. And of course, I’m having a blast like you wouldn’t believe. Trop cool 😉
