The other day I bought toilet paper and thought: “Uh, this is kinda personal, what if somebody sees me?” But then I decided that I didn’t care and forgot about it.
When I arrived home I met one of my neighbors in the hallway. We said hello and then he looked at the pack of toilet paper in my hand. After hesitating for a second, he asked if I didn’t feel uncomfortable carrying toilet paper in public. He also added that he always made sure to buy the biggest pack available, so he wouldn’t have to do it too often.
I don’t know if it’s a Swiss thing, but people around here don’t like to share too many personal things with strangers. And toilet paper is obviously something very personal. The weird thing is that I completely understand this feeling, but it just doesn’t make any sense.
Oh well, if buying toilet paper is really a problem, we can always order it online via Le Shop or coop@home 😉
